YSR Congress Party leader YS Jagan Mohan Reddy has urged people in Andhra Pradesh to participate in a pooja this Saturday to "atone for the sin" he claims was committed by Chief Minister N Chandrababu Naidu.
This comes after Naidu alleged that animal fat was used in making laddoos at the Tirupati temple, a claim Reddy calls politically motivated and false.
Reddy stated that the animal fat allegations were made after Naidu’s party, the TDP, won the recent state elections against YSRCP.
He pointed out that a tanker containing questionable ghee was rejected at Tirupati on July 12, and therefore, no adulteration occurred.
In a letter to the Prime Minister, Reddy accused Naidu of spreading lies that could hurt the religious sentiments of millions.
He described Naidu as a "pathological liar" who has damaged the reputation of the Chief Minister’s office and the temple's integrity. Reddy has called for Naidu to be reprimanded for his actions.
